Artist's Statement

My ongoing collage narrative The New Old World (aka The NOW) consists of digital and analog collages that alternative between functioning as a form of personal autobiography, as well as providing broader commentary on contemporary politics and society. Emma Anna

Emma Anna, born in Sydney, Australia in 1975,  lives and works in Barranquilla, Colombia. A visual artist, curator and creative writer, she holds a BA Communications (with majors in Print Journalism and International Politics) from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Masters of Art (Art in Public Space) from RMIT University, Melbourne. Emma has been selected as a participant artist for exhibitions in Australia, Europe, the USA and Latin America. Her work is held in a number of international public and  private collections in the US, Colombia, Europe and Australasia including the Randers Kunstmuseum, Denmark, AROS Museum, Arhus, Denmark, the City of Santa Clarita, California and The Cunningham Dax Collection, Melbourne. Emma´s public art practice has received numerous prestigious awards including the 2008 Sculpture by the Sea Bondi Site Specific Prize, the 2011 World Architecture Awards, and the 2017 UNESCO / Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture Public Artwork Design Concept Award. In Barranquilla, Colombia Emma is the co-founder and co-director of La Casa Verde (The Green House), a multi-purpose gallery and cultural centre based in Barranquilla’s historic El Prado district. In September 2019 Emma´s ephemeral public art installation Sol Yantra formed part of the program for the 45th National Salon of Colombian Artists in Bogotá, Colombia.
